KEYSUIT / PUBLIC BETA

Getting started

How to install the free Keysuit public beta (0.4.0), allow keyboard access, and remove it again. No invitation is needed. It is not yet notarized by Apple, so the first launch needs one extra step.

1. Download the beta

Download Keysuit-0.4.0-5.dmg (4.6 MB, Universal for Apple silicon and Intel, macOS 13 or later) from the homepage. To check the file is intact, run shasum -a 256 on it in Terminal and compare the result with this SHA-256: 772ad33bd4743384e6ee0bd300f199dd72bdad4c5b72dd5943f68fc222609640. If the download fails, simply try again; nothing is installed until you open the disk image.

2. Install and open it the first time

Open the disk image and drag Keysuit into Applications, then open it from Applications. Because this beta is not yet notarized, macOS will say it can’t verify the developer and won’t open it. On macOS 15 or later: click Done, open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the message about Keysuit and click Open Anyway, then confirm with your password or Touch ID. On macOS 13–14 you can also Control-click Keysuit in Applications, choose Open, then Open again. You only need to do this once. A notarized build will remove this step.

3. Allow keyboard access for system-wide sounds

The first-run guide explains this and opens the right page for you: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Input Monitoring, then turn on Keysuit. This lets the App receive key categories, not typed characters. You can decline and still look around; global typing sounds and counts just stay off. The App notices when access changes, so no restart is needed.

4. Make it yours from the menu bar

Choose a sound theme, set a comfortable volume, or temporarily mute it. The menu bar shows today’s total and your theme’s title; open Today’s Recap for a shareable card. The language (English, Simplified Chinese, Japanese) is under Settings → General. Notifications need permission and follow macOS Focus. Download alerts need access to Downloads; screenshot alerts need an authorized folder.

Updating to a newer beta

Quit Keysuit from the menu bar, download the new disk image and replace the App in Applications. Your statistics and settings are kept. If a future build is signed differently (for example once it is notarized), macOS may ask you to allow Input Monitoring again.

Uninstalling and local data

Quit Keysuit from its menu bar controls, then move it from Applications to the Trash. Removing the App does not necessarily remove local statistics and preferences. To remove statistics deliberately, use the App’s stats controls and review the confirmation before deleting.

Help & feedback

Send bugs, ideas and installation questions to support@keysuit.app. Include the App version, macOS version, Mac model, what you did and what happened; screenshots are optional. The link opens your email app, or you can copy the address into webmail. Audio fails on this page? Retry a theme, check the sample volume and device output, and on iPhone check the silent switch.
